Diluted, the oil has been used externally as a herbal medicine for headaches, rheumatism, general aches and pains, and also applied to strings and bits. The oil can alternatively be used as a component in many fragrances; with a rich, warm, spicy-herbaceous odour. Caution should be taken as it is a powerful emmenagogue and so it should be avoided during pregnancy. The Oregano essentail oil is really meant for professional users only.
